The birth of the city of Laghouat ascends in the
beginning of the XIXth century.
But Ibn Khaldoun indicated the existence toward the XIth century or XIIth century of a qasr (city or village surrounded with a
wall in stone for the protection against the invasions) in a site that seems to be the one of the present city, sheltering a faction of the
Beni-Laghouat, path of the famous Berber tribe of the Maghraouases.
This tribe reigned between 1058 to 1067.
When the Almoravids took Tadla, Laghouat takes refuge At Temim of the tribe of the Banou Ifren Hakems of Salty.
But, the Almoravids attack Salty and kill Laghouat.
After Youssef Ibn Tachfin gets married with Zaineb of the tribe of the Nefoussases (Zénète).
